JPY ¥50,000

This set of five plates depicts a festive crane and waves. Decorated with other auspicious motifs such as pine, bamboo, plum, and chrysanthemum, it is perfect for celebrations and other occasions.

These plates are beautifully decorated reflecting the high-quality craftsmanship handed down for generations within Arita Porcelain Lab's long history. The technique displayed in this bowl is called "somenishiki" where the bowl is first glazed with white and blue patterns and then is further decorated with detailed hand painted drawings.

It can be used as an extra plate for any types of dish. Appetizers, salad, bread and desserts are the perfect match. The gorgeous colors make it a great choice for layering with plates from the same series for special occasion dinners.

It comes in a wooden box which makes it a great gift.

ABOUT ARITA WARE

Arita Ware, made in the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture, is the oldest porcelain production area in Japan's history. Arita porcelain is characterized by its translucent white porcelain surface, dyeing using "Gosu" (indigo pigment), and gorgeous red painting using glassy overglaze pigments (red, green, yellow, purple, and blue). The pottery is highly durable and is produced in a wide variety of styles, from fine art to daily necessities. It was exported to Europe, where it was prized as fine art and called "white gold".

Arita Ware is also a prestigious brand that is admired by ceramicists from other regions as a representative porcelain production area.
