Utsutsu Kiln Wind's Path Kutani Round Plate

JPY ¥34,800

This large Japanese plate features an exotic pattern in the background of bright Turkish blue. It will surely be an eye catcher that will make your dining table look gorgeous and impressive.

It is made by Utsutsu kiln, one of the Kutani ware kilns famous for its exotic and elaborate drawings.

Each one is colored by hand, so it is also attractive that there are no two identical finishes. The gentle curve in the shape of the plate reflect the movement of the human hand using the potter's wheel. It is a plate that expresses the softness of the clay before it is baked and creates a relaxing enjoyment.

The size is useful not only as a serving plate for the main dish and side dish, but also as a dinner plate. By using it with a smaller plates or bowls, from the same series, or made of glass will create a more unified and sophisticated Japanese table setting.

Wind's Path Series

This series is inspired by the pleasant breeze that shimmers through the trees over the flowers when walking along the path in the forest, or the moment when one inhales the fragrance of fresh green. The blue background is glazed multiple layers with a matte texture, which gives the work the touch of a watercolor painting.

Her passion for expressing the world of painting in even pottery is reflected in her works. For her, Creation is to give form to something not yet existing in this world.

The Utsutsu Kiln is the place where her illusions and imaginations become visible.

Individuality created by complete handcrafting

In the Utsutsu kiln, every process is done by hand. In the words of Inazumi Kakoku, "The difference between human handwork and mechanical products is the sense of respiration shown in the objects.

Each piece is handmade one by one, so no two pieces are the same, and even the same shape or design may be slightly different. This is one of the beauties of handmade products, and it makes us feel more attached to them as each piece is unique and original.
