Higashi Kiln Light Fleur Tobe Donburi Bowl M

JPY ¥12,500

Only 2 pieces in stock!

This charming Tobe ware Donburi bowl features beautiful flowers in gentle hues of green and light blue.

Subtle colors decorate the blooming flowers painted on a white porcelain canvas. Small dots painted in gold are scattered, adding a discreet accent to the overall design.

Higashi Kiln employs a unique technique called "Washi-zome." Colors and designs are added to the unglazed surfaces using Japanese Washi paper. This technique adds a watercolor-like softness to the floral patterns which creates a pleasant atmosphere on a table.

This bowl has a diameter of 16.7cm(6.6in) and is perfect for serving salads, hearty soups and noodles. It can hold about 1 cup(1 gou) of rice and is ideal to serve a generously portioned Donburi bowl dish.

Higashi Kiln's style is famous for their glass-like smoothness and the usage of the soft and pastel colors like watercolor paintings, which is not bound by conventional frameworks of Tobe ware. The painting is performed by female artist, Alyne Ohigashi, who was born in the Philippines and has been involved with creating Tobe ware items for more than 30 years at Higashi Kiln.

Spectacular!

Surprisingly lightweight considering how thick (aka well-insulated) it is. Love this pattern for spring or early fall. Highly recommend for noodle dishes, soups, stews, etc.!
