Harekutani Fish Plate
This lovely fish-shaped Japanese plate is made by Harekutani, a Kutani ware brand that combines traditional Kutani Japanese paints and techniques with contemporary designs and shapes that are easy to use in modern lifestyles.
It is painted with soft 5 colors, based on traditional basic colors of Kutani Gosai (five colors): red, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
With a relatively large size (26cm), you can serve any dish, can be used as the main dish plate or side dish plate.

Harekutani was born in 2017 with the desire to bring Kutani ware to life in a casual manner.
Kutani ware from Ishikawa Prefecture, which has a history of over 300 years, is hand-painted by the artist with delicate patterns.
The characteristic of this product is that it is made of a variety of materials. As one of Japan's representative "colored Kiln", it has the charm of a dignified feel that beautifully complements food.

About kutani ware
Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.

I purchased 3 of these Harekutani plates, and this one is just as nice as the other two (fish and cat). The plate has a nice weight to it and is perfect for a variety of smaller dishes.
