USD $117

This is a small Edo Kiriko sake glass in red, recommended for celebratory occasions or daily use.

Edo Kiriko, which means "cut glass made in Edo", is a traditional Japanese glass product made by engraving on the surface of Edo glass. The contrast between the transparent and colored glass is truly outstanding, creating a beauty that cannot be found in monochromatic glass.

The design is one of the Edo Kiriko patterns called "Yarai" pattern, which emphasizes the sharpness of a sword. The design resembles a fence made of diagonally arranged bamboo, and is meant to ward off evil.

It can be used not only for cold sake, but also as a small bowl to hold Japanese soups called "Surinagashi", or dishes made with jellies.

It comes in a paulownia wood box which makes it a great gift.
