Description

This sauce plate features the tokusa pattern extending from the center with a petal-like design.

Beloved since the Edo period (1603–1868 CE), this pattern of straight vertical lines is inspired by the Japanese plant tokusa, known in English as rough horsetail. It is regarded as a symbol of growth and prosperity as it grows unwaveringly upwards.

It is a perfect small plate for serving sauces or snacks like nuts and candies. Or you may put a small portion of food or relishes in, and place it on a larger plate or in a bento box for a stylish and sophisticated food presentation.
