At the foot of "Fushimi Inari Taisha" Shrine, the kiln of the crafting artisans Nobuo and Michiko Tanaka has been open for 35 years. They specialize in creating unique tea ceremony utensils and daily-use tablewares.
Nobuo principally creates glazed ware with a black "tenmoku" glaze that includes at least five percent iron. Meanwhile, Michiko's works capture the essence of each season along with gentle depictions of plants and animals which gives an emotional connection to those who admire them.
