COMPLIANCE WITH WORLD-CLASS HYGIENE STANDARDS

At Musubi Kiln, we only sell our products that meet Japanese hygiene standards for tableware. Due to the nature of tableware that comes into direct contact with food, many countries set hygiene standards for tableware. Japanese hygiene standards are among the highest in the world and are becoming stricter every year, though some countries have even stricter standards in place.

Traditionally, overglaze paint used for Japanese tableware has contained tiny amounts of lead and cadmium. While lead-free paint has now been widely used, in order to achieve desired colors, some artisans still use paint with tiny amounts of lead and cadmium to the extent permitted by Japanese hygiene standards.

At some point in the future, Musubi Kiln is considering setting its own standards that is strictest in the world.
