Seeking a tone that could express impressions of historic European architecture, he mixed his own pigments and tested more than eighty variations before arriving at ebicha. Each vessel is formed on the wheel and carried through painting and gilding by Kanbata himself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHere, white slip made from Kutani clay is applied only to the painted area. The dark clay remains exposed on the exterior, its contrast echoing the architecture that inspired it.
