Karacho Hasakura Silk Jacquard Furoshiki 27.6in

USD $211

This furoshiki uses the Karacho's signature pattern that has been passed down from the Edo period. It is known as a special pattern in which each successive head of the family has his or her own color scheme, and this Hasakura(cherry tree in leaf), meaning uses the 12th generation's preferred color scheme.

The fresh green and pale orange are like the fresh green of cherry blossoms reflecting the sunlight. The color is reversed on the back and can be used on both sides.

It is made of 100 % silk using the jacquard weaving, a rare technique for furoshiki, and has a durable yet smooth and refined texture.

This is a furoshiki that should definitely be used for formal occasions. In addition to wrapping things, it can be used in multiple ways, such as spreading it on a table or shelf, or using it like a scarf.

It will be a great gift wrapping for someone who loves Japanese art.

Karacho (Karakamiya Choemon), founded in 1624, is known as the only Karakamiya that has continued uninterruptedly since the Edo period. Karakami, which is made by applying patterns to Japanese paper using woodblocks that have been handed down from generation to generation, is used for sliding doors and wallpaper in buildings. The exquisite texture of the paper, as if beautiful patterns are emerging from the Washi, is highly valued artistically and has been used in historical structures such as Katsura Rikyu and Nijo Castle, where it has been repeatedly repaired and passed down to the present day.
