This bowl is designed with a "Tokusa" pattern drawn by hand with a broom-like brush to make the thin blue lines centering to the middle of the bowl. 

Originally made in the size to serve a single portion of sashimi or pickled vegetables in a traditional style meal at a tea ceremony,  it can be used for many other menus such salads or a tofu dish or any kind of dish with a sauce. 

The "Tokusa" series by the Hasami ware company Fukuhou Kiln was first produced in 1976. Since then, it has become a long selling standard item. The "Tokusa" is a pattern of stripes which has been used as a pattern for tableware since ancient times and is a familiar pattern in Japan.

Unique shape that is gorgeous

These bowls are gorgeous. Blue is very bright and bold. The shape is beautiful, both the wavy round top as well as the scallop contour on the outside.
