Key points of this table setting

1. Enjoy Cherry Blossoms with a Buffet-Style Lunch

Spring is the season for "Ohanami," the traditional Japanese custom of viewing cherry blossoms. Get a head start on spring and plan a buffet-style lunch with a table dressed with fresh cherry blossoms and delectable delicacies.

For this Ohanami party, we prepared an array of dishes that are not only visually appealing, but also wonderfully delicious.  On the amuse bouche spoons are small layers of rye-wheat bread with tomatoes and potato salad rolled in cucumber slices. Fish balls topped with crispy lotus roots on Shiso leaves make for a stylish appetizer.
For dessert, we lined up vivid fruit in glass bowls and seasonal Japanese sweets in the stackable Arita Porcelain  bento box.

We also incorporated the lunchbox-style presentation with Shokado bento boxes for our Ohanami party. The "Temarizushi" balls, daintily wrapped with spring-colored salmon and tuna, and colorfully stewed vegetables and little meatballs fill the Shokado bento box set in the middle of the table. As the guests gather around the table, open the lid of the bento box and surprise your guests with the visual appeal of delicious Japanese cuisine.

2. Tableware Items that Spruce Up the Table

We selected a variety of tableware items in differing materials and styles to make a cheerful and inviting buffet-style table setting.

The wooden texture of the Shokado bento box from Hibino is a perfect match with the little "Temarizushi" balls. Cups to drink sake and small plates of pickles are paired on the artful aluminum tray from ALART. Adding the perfect touch of luxury and style, Hutlery's sauce plates and amuse bouche spoons are the ideal way to present small appetizers.

These amuse bouche spoons boast a unique design of persimmon leaves. The delicate veins of the leaf testify to the high level of craftsmanship. With their raised edges, food can be carried to the mouth without spillage, and the tapered base of the leaf makes them easy to hold.

To make sure all dishes are within easy reach for guests, tableware items are spread out evenly on the table and placed close to the edges. The trays and plates are given varying heights by elevating them with smaller dishes.

When preparing the table for a buffet, arrange the flowers with height so that guests may enjoy their delightful blooms while standing. The texture and color of a tall stoneware vase add to the natural beauty of the cherry blossoms.

3. Accents on the Table

Add a splash of fun and bright color to your table to set the mood for an unforgettable spring gathering.
We chose plates in vibrant pink colors with traditional "Old Imari" floral patterns. The elegant design with the gold trimmings make these eye-catching items and are sure to bring joy to your guests.

Craft napkin and chopstick sets with cherry blossom sprigs tied with braided golden strings.

Bring a smile to your guests' faces with a spring table top that exudes the joy of the season.
You'll be filled with delight as you choose plates in bright colors to craft an attractive presentation on your table.
