Points of This Table Setting

1. Vivid Contrast

The table is decorated with a aubergine-colored table cloth with a light beige table runner. Contrast is the key for this setting; the contrast of the red and black on the sushi plate, and the contrast between the bright white color of the sauce dishes and the sake set against the dark vermillion lacquer trays.
The contrast highlights the bright white colors of the tableware and gives the table a natural yet sophisticated impression.

2. Modern Kutani Ware

Modern Kuntani ware items dazzle the table with their polished shine of white porcelain and beautiful designs.
The sushi is plated on the Red Camellia Kutani Rectangle Plate made by Masako Inoue, an awarding winning Kutani ware artist. The plate has a unique and bold design painted on Kutani ware's signature white porcelain using a technique called "sgrafitto." "Sgrafitto" means "to scratch" in Italian and is a technique where applied layers of color or colors are scratched off to create contrasting patterns and textures.

The Kutani ware sphere-shaped box is from Kinzan Kiln. A skillfully crafted item created with a technique called "Hakumori", a technique of thickly applying white overglaze paint to give patterns on an item a three-dimensional look.

Based on a totally new concept, the hachi-kutani sauce plates are Kutani ware items that are not painted with the traditional vivid colors but are designed to showcase the elegant white beauty of Kutani ware porcelain with finely painted auspicious patterns.

3.  Elegant Sake Set

Enjoy sake with your sushi in this carafe and sake cups, also made by Kinzan Kiln. The arabesque designs painted with the "kinsai" technique using gold leaves adds luxurious feels to the table that match the golden handle on the sphere box. The unique shape and the golden patterns on the top of the carafe make it an eye-catching item on the table.

Entertain guests with an elegant sushi dinner at home with chic and modern Kutani tableware and enjoy the beauty of its diverse styles and techniques. A continuously evolving traditional craft that will never go out of style.
