This set of chopsticks features the unique zumen bamboo from Kyoto. Random patterns adorn one side of each chopstick, lending a traditional and elegant appeal. Enjoy their rustic natural charm in two subtle shades of brown.

Zumen bamboo is crafted by skilled craftsmen using specialized techniques. Each piece is distinct, with no two patterns alike. This distinctiveness is especially cherished in the worlds of tea ceremonies and ikebana, where such bamboo is highly valued.

The bamboo comes from Muko City in Kyoto Prefecture, a renowned bamboo-producing area in Japan. The unique clay-rich soil and climate conditions of the area yield bamboo that is hard yet fine-fibered, making the chopsticks exceptionally lightweight and easy to use. During processing, raw bamboo is treated to remove excess moisture and oils, preventing discoloration and insect damage.

These chopsticks are hand-carved into a square shape, and maintain their natural texture of bamboo under a transparent coat of lacquer. Square chopsticks offer stability and align beautifully when set down on the table. The slightly longer length not only enhances the visibility of the user's hand movements but also adds to the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the chopsticks.

Bamboo is an evergreen that grows quickly and straight upwards, symbolizing prosperity in Japanese culture. These chopsticks come in an exquisite paulownia box adorned with golden patterns, making them an ideal gift.
