Reiko pursued akae artistry under the guidance of her father, the acclaimed akae-saibyo artisan Fukushima Buzan. In the world of akae, each line is believed to possess its own unique character, varying from bold and strong to delicate and gentle. Continuing her father's techniques, Reiko crafts designs that reflect her distinctive style, characterized by lines that exude warmth and tenderness.

Seen from above, the sake cup blossoms into a floral shape, its smooth contours designed for effortless handling. Delicate red lines and subtle gold accents gracefully complement the cup's gentle curves, creating a serene and inviting aesthetic. FUKUSHIMA REIKO

Fukushima Reiko, an artist dedicated to the akae-saibyo technique, graduated from the Ishikawa Prefectural Kutani Ceramic Technical Training Institute in 2011. She joined Fukushima Buzan’s workshop and studied under his guidance. In 2012, she exhibited Akae no Keifu, "Lineage of Akae" at the Kutani Porcelain Art Museum in Nomi City. The following year, she exhibited Ao to Aka, "Blue and Red," at the Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts of Ishikawa Prefecture.

She was awarded at the Nomi City Art Exhibition in 2014 and in 2015. And in 2019 and 2021, she was honored with awards at the Traditional Kutani Ware Crafts Exhibition.
