The four distinctive colors of the Yoshidaya style, green, yellow, purple, and navy blue are used to express the glory and wonders of spring on these rice bowls.

The shiny gloss of the overglaze accentuates the white color of the inner side of the bowl and adds extra shine when hot rice is served.

Yoshidaya Style

Yoshidaya Style, which is one of the most famous traditional styles of Kutani Ware, was first created by Yoshidaya Denemon in 1824. The four basic colors that are used on these bowls are yellow, green, aubergine and blue. This style restored the painting style of Aote Ko-kutani. Yoshidaya painted the entire surface of items only using the 4 colors, yellow, green, dark blue and purple, and never red.
