The intricate network of lines and starburst shapes create a delicate texture that wraps around the exterior, but when it’s in your hand, you’ll be impressed with the weighty handfeel that belies its incredible quality.
The rosy hue of this glass is called "Kin-aka (gold red)" and is achieved by mixing red raw materials with gold powder. The lighter the color, the more difficult it is to create a consistent color. The carefully placed cut lines stand out against the kin-aka and amber diagonal stripes. Finished with a dark amber bottom, it’s an elegant style that looks truly at home with your finest table setting, yet also delivers a commanding presence when sitting solo next to your favorite chair.
Holding up to 200ml or 6.8 ounces of your favorite drink, it’s the right size for whatever is on the menu, and the subtle hues of the stripes and contrasting bottom instantly elevate the visual of the cocktail, mocktail, or any other liquid inside. It arrives tucked with a beautiful box made of paulownia wood, light and made to protect the cup when not in use. It also makes a beautiful gift.
This glass is made with a craft technique called Edo Kiriko, which involves the precise cutting of crystal against a cutting wheel, to create geometric shapes and lines that catch the light from every angle. Each Edo Kiriko glass is made by hand by the artisan Kiyohide in his workshop called Kirameki, which means “The Refined Light”. Kiyohide has honed his craft over decades of dedication, earning him the title of “Edo Kiriko Craftsperson”, an honor reserved only for those who have proved their craftsmanship of the technique.
