JPY ¥17,000

Only 2 pieces in stock!

Enjoy hot fluffy rice with these colorful rice bowls designed in the traditional Yoshidaya style.

The entire surface of the rice bowls are decorated with bold and beautiful images of large peonies with detailed paintings of plum blossoms on a vivid yellow base. Countless numbers of tiny dots fill in the space between the plum blossoms that give a contemporary look to the traditional Yoshidaya design. The four distinctive colors of the Yoshidaya style, green, yellow, purple, and navy blue are used to express the glory and wonders of spring on these rice bowls.

The shiny gloss of the overglaze accentuates the white color of the inner side of the bowl and adds extra shine when hot rice is served.

This pair includes two rice bowls in different sizes and would be a wonderful gift for a couple as a wedding gift or an anniversary gift.

FEATURES

Yoshidaya Style

Yoshidaya Style, which is one of the most famous traditional styles of Kutani Ware, was first created by Yoshidaya Denemon in 1824. The four basic colors that are used on these bowls are yellow, green, aubergine and blue. This style restored the painting style of Aote Ko-kutani. Yoshidaya painted the entire surface of items only using the 4 colors, yellow, green, dark blue and purple, and never red.

About kutani ware

I recommend this product

Pretty but...

Just a couple future product recommendations: 1) I wish that bowls sold in pairs were of equal size, and 2) I wish that some of the pattern on the outside carried onto the inside. Otherwise these are absolutely beautiful bowls and we love them very much for serving fruit in the late afternoon with other Kutani style tableware!
