Art Styles of the Past Eiraku Kutani Decorative Plate

JPY ¥37,500

This plate is one of the six in the "Art Styles of the Past" series. It showcases the unique design of Kutani ware in the Eiraku style.

The Eiraku style is renowned for its "Akae-Kinrande," which has a gold design with a red background. It is a gorgeous, sophisticated, and graceful style of Kutani ware. Eiraku style was born from the beautiful fusion of fine red painting of the earlier Iidaya Akae style with the elegant and sophisticated style of Kyo ware.

In the central circular frame, flying phoenixes and detailed plants are depicted in blue, and they are surrounded by paintings of dragons in gold. Both are imaginary creatures with various meanings, with the phoenix indicating resurrection and rebirth, and the dragon indicating the highest level of good fortune in feng shui.

The plate comes with a stand, allowing it to be displayed on a shelf or table. It is also suitable for use at special occasions.

Packaged in a wooden box, this plate makes an ideal gift for those who appreciate traditional crafts and interior décor.

About kutani ware

Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.
