About kutani ware
Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.

I received this Kutani Maneki Neko so quickly with lots of updates to ensure it's safe arrival. I was so excited to open the box. Of course, there is the gracefully tied Furoshiki. Seeing that in the box, so carefully protected with bubble wrap in addition to the other padding, made me realize how personal and caring the person was who packaged my Maneki Neko. And it made it more precious. The cat, itself, was safe and beautiful. The artistic quality, the raised paint, offered texture and highlighted the lovely flowers that were hand painted. This is my second Kutani Maneki Neko, having received one as a gift in the past. I bought this one because Kutani and Musubi Kiln represent excellence and a sincere effort to continue Traditional Japanese Art forms. When I want something special from Japan, I always turn to Musubi Kiln. I love my new Maneki Neko.
