Chibu Kutani Tumbler
This beautiful tumbler features a traditional clematis pattern. Each piece is decorated with "Aochibu / Shirochibu", covered with small dots. It is one of the remarkable painting techniques of Kutani ware began in the Taisho era. A skilled craftsman finishes each piece by hand to create a truly unique pattern; there are no two alike.

Aochibu/Shirochibu Style
This style was developed in the Taisho era(1912-1926). Small dots in blue or white are applied to the colored background to create a special texture. A great deal of skill is required to make the dots the same size, evenly spaced, and the same color.

These tumblers are beautiful and quite elegant. I have purchased four at this point and plan to purchase a few more. They are are quite substantial yet delicate in appearance. I absolutely love these tumblers. The craftsmanship is wonderful and the end result is beautiful. Also, this is a great company who is very responsive. I ordered some Christmas gifts for my colleague who lives in Japan, and they were delivered very promptly. These tumblers were for me to use by our bathroom sinks and they are a lovely complement.
