KIKYOYA KIKKO NISHIJIN ORI LONG TABLE RUNNER

Kikyoya Kikko Nishijin Ori Long Table Runner

JPY ¥80,000

This "Kikko" long table runner is an exquisite piece of Japanese craftsmanship that beautifully decorates a table. You can decorate the table with just the table runner or you can match it up with a tablecloth. To give accent to a room or a space, place it on a sideboard or chest, or use it as a bed throw on a bed.

"Kikko" is the name of for the pattern that resembles a tortoise shell, a symbol of longevity. It is often used as a compound pattern by combining other patterns within a regular hexagonal shape. In Japan, there is a saying, "A crane lives for a thousand years, a turtle lives for ten thousand years." The turtle is considered a symbol of longevity, and the "Kikko" pattern has long been used on clothing and furnishings as a good omen.

And what makes these table runners especially unique are the tassels at each end. The thread used for the tassels are dyed to match the pattern of the table runners and then braided by hand. Matching the radiant and exquisite beauty of the runner, the tassels add an extra touch of elegance to the table.

The fabric is double-lined and can be used on both sides. It is sturdy and durable and also water-resistant which makes it easy to care for. In case of any kind of soiling or staining, lightly tap the fabric with a moistened towel to remove the dirt.

Handle the table runner with care to avoid the threads from snagging. When removing the table runner from the box, the runner may have some folding creases. Place a thin cloth over the table runner to iron out any creases.

Something to behold

I cannot express the joy and amazement of my wife for the craftsmanship of this item. She is afraid to get it out of the box to not soil it somehow. Japanese craftsmanship at its best.
