about yamanaka lacquerware
Yamanaka lacquerware is produced in the Yamanaka Onsen area of Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and has a history of about 400 years.
The traditional techniques of Yamanaka lacquerware were highly evaluated and became known throughout Japan, despite a period of temporary interruption.
It is characterized by the use of wood grain patterns to express a natural texture, and is made with great attention to detail.
It was designated as a traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in 1975.
What is beauty?
The beauty of these chopsticks is remarkable. To use them or mount them on a wall is a decision I’ve yet to make.
These are exceptional pieces of work. Wanted to buy a nice set for me and my wife to enjoy that would last forever and look great and these seem to do the job very well. Love being able to support the good people of Japan as well and am very pleased with their attention to detail and commitment to making a good product. I also appreciate the mission they have of keeping these techniques alive for the future generations.
Mt. Fuji and Sakura Yamanaka beauty!
I purchased them for a gift, but selfishly kept them for myself and my wife when I saw the exquisite craftsmanship and beauty!
