SINGAMA Blue Line Seto Ware Square Plate 8.4in

JPY ¥12,800

Only 10 pieces in stock!

This square plate is perfectly suited for serving main dishes. The lines drawn along the rim accentuate the dish elegantly. Employing a technique of "Sometsuke" (underglaze cobalt blue) painting on a base brilliantly fired to a pure white, each piece is meticulously crafted, embodying the essence of Seto Sometsuke ware.

Since the painting is done by the hands of artisans, no two pieces are exactly alike. Each stroke varies in thickness, neither too straight nor too rigid, exuding a gentle softness.

The plate is of an ideal size for serving main dishes such as sashimi or tempura. It is also versatile enough for a variety of other uses, such as serving salads, appetizers, or toast.

Founded in 1919, "SINGAMA" is a pottery studio located in the northeastern part of Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, in a place called "Shinano."
