This matte white-colored plate is crafted with carved edges with a metallic coating of gold or silver. The thickness of the porcelain makes it sturdy and easy to handle.

Although small in size, attention to detail gives an artistic feel to the item. A "sumikiri" design is where the four corners of a square or rectangular shaped plate are stylishly carved. The four corners of this small plate are carefully carved with round edges. The two-facing sides have differing edges with one set having a straight edge and the other with a wavy edge.

With its slight depth, this plate can be used to serve delicacies to be eaten in small amounts. It can also be used to plate soy sauce for sashimi or sushi. Serve some small confectionary with some tea, or place a nut mix or trail mix for a light snack.

Use it on a side table or lamp table to put in accessories. If you enjoy potpourri, place some dried pedals in this elegant dish for display.

A small yet useful item that will also help decorate your table with its stylish design and metallic shine.

ABOUT ARITA WARE

Arita Ware, made in the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture, is the oldest porcelain production area in Japan's history. Arita porcelain is characterized by its translucent white porcelain surface, dyeing using "Gosu" (indigo pigment), and gorgeous red painting using glassy overglaze pigments (red, green, yellow, purple, and blue). The pottery is highly durable and is produced in a wide variety of styles, from fine art to daily necessities. It was exported to Europe, where it was prized as fine art and called "white gold".

Arita Ware is also a prestigious brand that is admired by ceramicists from other regions as a representative porcelain production area.
