Sakura Hexadecagon Chabitsu Japanese Tea Box

This hexadecagon Japanese tea box (chabitsu), created by Yatsuyanagi, is a product of cherry bark work from Akita Prefecture and decorated with a cherry blossom motif made of wood bark. The glossy brown cherry bark has a moist texture and a beautiful shine.

A Japanese tea box is a container with a lid that stores tea utensils so that you can enjoy tea at any time. Not only for tea sets, it is also recommended for storing other tableware and for interior decoration.　

The lid can be used as a tray. The inside height is 9.5 cm (0.4 in) and cannot hold anything taller than that. Due to their height, the taller Yatsuyanagi tea canisters sold on our website cannot be placed inside this tea box.

The cherry bark is carefully peeled off from the trunk and left to dry in the shade for a year or two to remove the moisture. Yatsuyanagi is committed to the preservation of sustainable nature and the coexistence and co-prosperity of nature and traditional crafts. They are also actively involved in planting wild cherry trees on fallow land.

Travail de l'écorce de cerisier Kabazaiku

Kabazaiku est un artisanat fabriqué dans la préfecture d'Akita, dans le nord du Japon, à partir de l'écorce de Yamazakura, ou « cerisier des montagnes japonais » . L'éclat fascinant, semblable à celui de la soie ou du métal, propre à l'écorce du cerisier, combiné à sa couleur profonde, permet de créer des pièces d'une beauté incomparable. Cet artisanat traditionnel japonais a une histoire vieille de près de 250 ans.
