This Japanese tea set is made of red clay, known as one of the characteristics of Tokoname ware.
Tokoname red clay is a clay containing iron oxide suitable for pottery, and is characterized by a soft vermilion color when fired. Because no glaze is used, the clay itself absorbs the light and gives the pottery a moist texture that makes you want to touch it.
