Shippo Short Table Runner

This shippo pattern short table runner is an exquisite piece of Japanese craftsmanship that beautifully decorates a table. This size is ideal for placing under a centerpiece on a dining table or on a display cabinet.

In the center of the runner is a golden river with floating cherry blossoms. The main pattern design is one of the traditional Japanese patterns called shippo where curves are connected in all directions, imitating a luminous treasure. Shippo means "seven treasures" in the Japanese Buddhist scriptures, and symbolizes items that are very precious. 

And what makes these table runners especially unique are the tassels at each end. The thread used for the tassels are dyed to match the pattern of the table runners and then braided by hand. Matching the radiant and exquisite beauty of the runner, the tassels add an extra touch of elegance to the table.

The fabric is double-lined and can be used on both sides. It is sturdy and durable and also water-resistant which makes it easy to care for. In case of any kind of soiling or staining, lightly tap the fabric with a moistened towel to remove the dirt. 

This piece features intricate detailing with gold thread. Due to the nature of gold thread, polyester is included in its composition, while all colored threads remain pure silk, ensuring a refined finish.

When removed from the box, the runner will probably have folding creases. Place a thin cloth over the table runner to iron out any creases.

Brocart Nishijin Ori

Le Nishijin Ori est un brocart teint en fil produit à Nishijin, au nord-ouest de Kyoto. Son histoire est ancienne, remontant à l'époque Heian (794 apr. J. -C. ) . –1185 CE) , et se caractérise par l'utilisation de fils magnifiquement teints et de motifs tissés à l'aide de diverses techniques.

Produit en petites quantités et dans une grande variété, le Nishijin Ori est très rare et précieux. Ce tissu peut être conservé longtemps et se transmet souvent de génération en génération.

En 1976, il a été désigné comme un artisanat traditionnel japonais et aujourd'hui, cet art tissé tridimensionnel luxueux est largement connu dans le monde entier comme un textile en soie représentatif du Japon.
