Pink Gradient Matcha Tea Set

This matcha set pairs a soft blush-pink gradient with a smooth surface. A katakuchi matcha bowl, two matching teacups, a chasen matcha whisk, and a matcha whisk holder come together to create a shared matcha experience. In Hagi ware, color is not simply applied to the surface; it emerges through the interaction between the clay body and the glaze during firing. Artisans adjust the composition of the clay and glaze to achieve the desired expression. Delicate gradations, subtle shifts in blush tones, and the interplay of glaze and clay give each piece its own unique appearance.

Fine crackles known as kannyu add depth to the surface, as with all Hagi ware, its color and texture gradually evolve over time with use, a phenomenon known as the “seven transformations” of Hagi ware or Hagi no nanabake.
