Description

Featuring the distinctive nami-yu glaze, which is made from the ashes of the Kyoto forest, this matcha whisk holder from Tosen Kiln showcases the serene image of graceful weeping sakura, cherry blossoms of Gion, Kyoto. The holder is enveloped in a yellowish cream-white base color, reminiscent of Kiyomizu ware's natural beauty. Its rounded shape adds a touch of softness to the detailed depiction of cherry blossoms.

A matcha whisk holder is a traditional tool for maintaining the shape of a chasen, matcha whisk. By using this holder, you can ensure the bristles of your matcha whisk dry properly, preserving its shape and durability.

As bamboo has a tendency to straighten easily, you can preserve the shape of your matcha whisk by using this holder. After using the whisk, rinse it in water and gently place it on the holder.

The paintwork, carried out by artisans with in-depth knowledge of Japanese-style painting, displays creativity and skillful techniques. The cherry blossoms are hand-painted one by one on the unglazed surface of this holder. This delicate process requires a tremendous amount of skill due to the highly absorbent nature of the base material.
