Playful Rabbit Designed Side Plate

Enjoy meal time with this unique plate from Kousai Kiln.  This charmingly designed plate is handmade, combining the Shigaraki style "Yakishime(high-fired unglazed ceramics)" and traditional "Some-nishiki," a technique where a product is first glazed with white and blue patterns and then is further decorated with detailed hand-painted drawings. 

The face of the rabbit and traditional Japanese patterns are coated with a smooth glaze and the remaining surface retains its coarse and rustic stoneware texture. The rabbit's ears and feet add an accent to the plates shape giving it a rabbit-like design and its tail is neatly painted on the right bottom corner. 

Enjoy the different traditional Japanese patterns painted on the plate; the hemp leaf pattern in red, the Seigaiha ocean wave pattern in Indigo blue, the Shippou interlocking circular patterns in green and the Jimon(a design used for kimono fabric) pattern in blue. 

Use this plate to serve small portions of a main dish like fried chicken or grilled fish. The cute design makes this plate a great item to use for tea time or snacks for children. There are matching cups and rice bowls to make a full set with the "Playful Rabbit" motif. 

Kousai-Ofen

Kousai Kiln gehört Umeno Hirohiko, einem Töpfer aus Hasami-cho, Präfektur Nagasaki. Er absolvierte seine Ausbildung an einem Kiyomizu-Keramikofen in Kyoto und eröffnete 1991 seinen eigenen Ofen am Berg Nakao. Er stellt einzigartige Keramik her, die in Handarbeit und mit Handbemalung hergestellt wird.

Kombination aus Shigaraki-Stil Yakishime, oder hochgebrannte unglasierte Keramik und traditionelle Somenishiki Sein einzigartiger Stil ist bekannt für die Verschmelzung von Steingut, was für Hasami-Keramik relativ selten ist, und der von Kyoto beeinflussten Eleganz der Kyo-Keramik. Die einzigartigen Motive dieser Keramiken, wie die Darstellung von Pflanzen wie Blumen und Trauben und Tieren wie Katzen und Kaninchen, machen die Auswahl aus einer großen Vielfalt an Stücken zum Vergnügen.

Hasami-Ware

Hasami-Ware ist eine traditionelle japanische Keramik, die in der Stadt Hasami, oft auch „Stadt der Töpferei“ genannt, in der Präfektur Nagasaki auf Kyushu hergestellt wird. Seit über 400 Jahren wird sie als langlebiges und praktisches Geschirr für den täglichen Gebrauch geschätzt.

Es ist bekannt für seine lebendigen Designs, die auf reinweißem Porzellangrund gemalt sind – ein ikonisches Merkmal japanischen Porzellans. Während Hasami-Ware weiterhin traditionelle Muster ehrt, kreieren Kunsthandwerker ständig neue Designs, die zum zeitgenössischen Lebensstil passen und zeitlose Schönheit mit moderner Funktionalität verbinden.
