This plate is one of the six in the "Art Styles of the Past" series. It showcases the unique design of Kutani ware in the Ko-Kutani style.
The Ko-Kutani style is renowned for its geometric patterns and realistic paintings. The detailed designs on the ware's surface are like their own microcosms, stimulating the viewer's imagination. The first overglaze porcelain pieces were regarded as Ko-Kutani style, allegedly the oldest style of porcelain painting.
In the central circular frame, a plum tree and two birds perched on its branches are depicted. Surrounding this, motifs like gourds and fan shapes as well as traditional patterns are illustrated. The aesthetic sense that has been appreciated for ages is expressed through a color palette known as Kutani gosai (red, green, yellow, purple, and navy blue).
The plate comes with a stand, allowing it to be displayed on a shelf or table. It is also suitable for use at special occasions.
Packaged in a wooden box, this plate makes an ideal gift for those who appreciate traditional crafts and interior décor.
