Beschreibung

This kabuto samurai helmet ornament is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans using the traditional kimekomi technique. Carefully selected fabrics are expertly combined, ensuring every detail is perfected. The name “Yoko” means “sunshine” in Japanese, symbolizing brightness and warmth.

Samurai helmets, or kabuto, were traditionally worn for protection in battle and symbolize safeguarding one’s life. In Japan, this symbolism carries into Tango-no-Sekku, Boys' Day, celebrated on May 5th, when families display kabuto ornaments in their homes to wish for their children's safety, health, and strong growth.

The decorative component affixed to the front of the kabuto, known as the maedate, was originally designed to assert individuality and presence on the battlefield, and is adorned with depictions of fierce animals. The golden accents on the kabutobachi, the helmet dome, create a radiant, sunlit glow.

The decorative stand is equally refined, radiating a luminous gloss that enhances the overall aesthetic.
