Yukiwa Short Table Runner

This yukiwa short table runner is an exquisite piece of Japanese craftsmanship that beautifully decorates a table. This size is ideal for placing under a centerpiece on a dining table or on a display cabinet.

The yukiwa pattern resembles a snowflake. The large yukiwa pattern is used to outline various floral designs such as chrysanthemums, camellias and plum blossoms. The flowers are intricately woven into the brocade with the golden thread giving a three-dimensional look to the whole table runner. 

And what makes these table runners especially unique are the tassels at each end. The thread used for the tassels is dyed to match the pattern of the table runners and then braided by hand. Matching the radiant and exquisite beauty of the runner, the tassels add an extra touch of elegance to the table.

The fabric is double-lined and can be used on both sides. It is sturdy and durable and also water-resistant which makes it easy to care for. In case of any kind of soiling or staining, lightly tap the fabric with a moistened towel to remove the dirt.  

This piece features intricate detailing with gold thread. Due to the nature of gold thread, polyester is included in its composition, while all colored threads remain pure silk, ensuring a refined finish. 

Handle the table runner with care to avoid the threads from snagging. When removing the table runner from the box, the runner may have some folding creases. Place a thin cloth over the table runner to iron out any creases.

Nishijin Ori Brokat

Nishijin Ori ist ein garngefärbter Brokat, der in Nishijin, dem nordwestlichen Teil von Kyoto, hergestellt wird. Seine Geschichte reicht bis in die Heian-Zeit (794 n. Chr.) zurück. –1185 n. Chr.) und zeichnet sich durch die Verwendung wunderschön gefärbter Fäden und Muster aus, die mit verschiedenen Techniken gewebt wurden.

Da Nishijin Ori in kleinen Mengen und großer Vielfalt hergestellt wird, ist es äußerst selten und wertvoll. Dieser Stoff kann lange Zeit geschätzt werden und wird oft von einer Generation an die nächste weitergegeben.

Im Jahr 1976 wurde es als traditionelles japanisches Handwerk anerkannt und heute ist diese luxuriöse dreidimensionale Webkunst auf der ganzen Welt als repräsentatives Seidentextil Japans bekannt.
