Beschreibung

These wooden chopsticks from Matsukan's Sound of the Sea series are half-coated in lacquer, allowing the natural wood grain and color to be visible. Lightweight and easy to use, they crafted using a technique called raden, where shimmering pieces of mother-of-pearl are embedded into the coating. The Hasami porcelain chopstick rests are made with a seashell-shaped mold originally used to make rakugan, a traditional Japanese confectionery.

After an initial ten layers of coating, shell inlays are placed on the surface. Then, twenty more coats are applied for added shine and durability. Immaculately polished, the mother-of-pearl inlays shine softly on red lacquer and create a contrasting glimmer on black lacquer.

Presented in a paulownia box, the lid features elegant Japanese calligraphy displaying the characters "Sound of the Sea" alongside curved blue lines representing waves of the ocean. Whether as a gift for a friend or family member, or purchased for your own enjoyment, these chopsticks are a splendid choice, certain to bring joy.
