Oribe 織部

Oribe is a Mino ware style from the Momoyama period, known for its vivid copper-green glaze, bold iron-oxide painted patterns, and intentionally asymmetrical, freely shaped forms. Pieces may be fully covered in green glaze (so-oribe) or partly glazed with painted designs (e-oribe).

The green glaze pools differently for each piece, making every item one-of-a-kind. The technique involves splashing glaze to create abstract brushstrokes and earthy accents. Yashichida Kiln is known for its Oribe ware, noted for sophisticated and elegant use of negative space.
