Dami 濃

Dami is a technique in ceramic decoration where the artist first outlines an area to be painted with a thin brush, then fills in the remaining space with a larger brush using different shades of the same color. The method requires precise control of brush speed, pressure, and angle, as even slight variations in movement can affect the outcome.

The brush must move without hesitation—once it stops or wavers, the line loses its life. The artist uses different brush sizes sequentially: a thin brush defines the boundary, then a larger brush completes the fill.
