Playful Cat Designed Japanese Rice Bowl

Enjoy eating rice from this cute rice bowl designed with a playful cat from Kousai Kiln. This charmingly designed rice bowl is handmade, combining the Shigaraki style yakishime (high-fired unglazed ceramics) and the traditional somenishiki, a technique where a product is first glazed with white and blue patterns and then is further decorated with detailed hand-painted drawings. 

The face of the cat and traditional Japanese patterns are coated with a smooth glaze, and the remaining surface retains its coarse and rustic stoneware texture. The curled-up cat's ears peek out from the rice bowl, and its tail is neatly painted on the back side of the bowl. Find the cat's small paws on the foot of the bowl.

Kousai-Ofen

Kousai Kiln gehört Umeno Hirohiko, einem Töpfer aus Hasami-cho, Präfektur Nagasaki. Er absolvierte seine Ausbildung an einem Kiyomizu-Keramikofen in Kyoto und eröffnete 1991 seinen eigenen Ofen am Berg Nakao. Er stellt einzigartige Keramik her, die in Handarbeit und mit Handbemalung hergestellt wird.

Kombination aus Shigaraki-Stil Yakishime, oder hochgebrannte unglasierte Keramik und traditionelle Somenishiki Sein einzigartiger Stil ist bekannt für die Verschmelzung von Steingut, was für Hasami-Keramik relativ selten ist, und der von Kyoto beeinflussten Eleganz der Kyo-Keramik. Die einzigartigen Motive dieser Keramiken, wie die Darstellung von Pflanzen wie Blumen und Trauben und Tieren wie Katzen und Kaninchen, machen die Auswahl aus einer großen Vielfalt an Stücken zum Vergnügen.

Hasami-Ware

Hasami-Ware ist eine traditionelle japanische Keramik, die in der Stadt Hasami, oft auch „Stadt der Töpferei“ genannt, in der Präfektur Nagasaki auf Kyushu hergestellt wird. Seit über 400 Jahren wird sie als langlebiges und praktisches Geschirr für den täglichen Gebrauch geschätzt.
