The Shino Blush Kobachi Small Bowl is entirely hand-shaped, giving it a softly rounded, almost square form that feels organic in the hand. A gentle layer of pink-white Shino glaze settles across the surface, revealing the warm orange clay beneath—an earthy contrast that adds both depth and texture.
Each bowl is made from mogusa clay and coated with Shino glaze, creating a subtle color unique to every piece. The Shino glaze, made from feldspar, naturally contracts during firing to form a fine, crackled, and porous pattern known as kairagi—a “plum-skin” texture cherished for its organic beauty and depth. Over time, the pattern deepens, allowing the bowl to age gracefully and develop character with each use, much like a well-loved heirloom.

Shino
Shino ware is one of the most distinctive styles in Japanese pottery, first created in the Mino region of Gifu Prefecture in the late 16th to early 17th century. Known as the first Japanese ceramics to feature a white glaze, it embodies the refined beauty of wabi sabi.
Made from Mino’s mogusa clay and coated with a thick feldspar glaze, Shino pottery is admired for its rich white surface and the natural variations formed in the kiln. Subtle pinholes, flowing glaze, and warm reddish tones beneath the surface give each piece its own quiet expression.
