Chibu Kutani Tumbler
This beautiful tumbler features a traditional clematis pattern. Each piece is decorated with "Aochibu / Shirochibu", covered with small dots. It is one of the remarkable painting techniques of Kutani ware began in the Taisho era. A skilled craftsman finishes each piece by hand to create a truly unique pattern; there are no two alike.
The combination of the beautiful pattern and the smooth texture of porcelain gives an elegant and luxurious tea/coffee time. Perfect for a special occasion when enjoying with family and guests, and also an amazing gift for your loved one.
- Dimension: D8.6cm(3.38in) x H12.7cm(5in)
- Capacity: 300ml(10.1oz)
- Material: Porcelain - Kutani ware
- Origin: Made in Japan
This style was developed in the Taisho era(1912-1926). Small dots in blue or white are applied to the colored background to create a special texture. A great deal of skill is required to make the dots the same size, evenly spaced, and the same color.
About kutani ware
Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.
I have ordered several objects from Musubi Kiln and each is elegant and beautiful. I love the designs and craftsmanship.
