Keizan Kiln White Porcelain "Toso" Arita Sake Set
This "Toso" sake set includes a handled sake pot and three sets of large, medium, and small sake cups, that can be used for various special occasions such as New Year's. Its simple design makes it suitable not only for celebrations but also for daily use.
Originally, "Toso" is a traditional Japanese New Year's celebration drink to drive away the evil spirits of the year and to wish for good health for the family. It is made from a mixture of 5 to 10 herbal medicines called "Tososan", which is soaked in sake or mirin (rice wine). The ingredients vary from region to region, and in modern times, sake is often drunk as "Toso".
Sake cups can be used as a small bowl to serve small dishes or delicacies, or placed on a larger plate to add more sophisticated feeling to your dining table.
The smooth texture of porcelain feels relaxing and soft to your mouth, bringing out the rich yet delicate taste of Sake. A beautiful and unique sake cup will surely enrich your special time.

ABOUT ARITA WARE
Arita Ware, made in the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture, is the oldest porcelain production area in Japan's history. Arita porcelain is characterized by its translucent white porcelain surface, dyeing using "Gosu" (indigo pigment), and gorgeous red painting using glassy overglaze pigments (red, green, yellow, purple, and blue). The pottery is highly durable and is produced in a wide variety of styles, from fine art to daily necessities. It was exported to Europe, where it was prized as fine art and called "white gold". Arita Ware is also a prestigious brand that is admired by ceramicists from other regions as a representative porcelain production area.View more Arita ware
