About kutani ware
Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.
I received this vase a couple of days ago. I love it! The shine, the colour, the bird, the flowers. Something about his vase makes me very happy. And I haven't even put flowers yet! I am looking forward to buying a small bouquet of flowers this weekend. The box was wrapped with a red furoshiki and it looked like a small treasure. I wasn't sure that if it was worth shipping from Japan. But I am very happy with the quality. I ordered another vase (not this one) to give to my friend. A few suggestions: - Please add care instructions in English. There was a nice paper printout that explains care instructions and brief history, but they are all in Japanese. I can read Japanese but my friend can't. So, I'll need to printout the information on this page to give to my friend. - Please have care specific to the product you are selling. The care instructions seem to apply to all products sold by Kutani Ware. I don't need to know care instructions for teacups when I'm taking care of vases. Also, I find it difficult to figure out which ones apply to my vase and which ones don't.
