Round Lacquered Ramen Spoon
Estimated Shipping Widget will be displayed here!
Crafted from natural jujube wood, this rounded ramen spoon feels warm in the hand and smooth at the lips. The piece is finished with two coats of urushi, each separated by careful polishing. The finish uses traditional techniques that differ depending on the color of the spoon.
The red spoon employs negoro-nuri, which applies black first and then red on top, allowing the upper red to wear gently with use so the black beneath begins to show.
The black spoon features akebono-nuri, which reverses the order—red under black—and is selectively polished to reveal hints of red, creating a quiet glow reminiscent of light breaking through night.
In both types, a few areas are intentionally pared back to let the underlying color peek through, giving each spoon a subtly individual expression.
The handle traces a soft curve that settles naturally in the palm, while the slightly larger bowl lifts a generous portion with ease. Because it’s wood, it’s gentle on bowls and plates and won’t leave scratches. Sized for versatility, it suits a single serving of ramen, rice bowls, and soups, and works just as well for sharing from a platter. Simple in outline yet refined in finish, it lends a composed, tactile presence to everyday meals.
