Maker / Brand
Founded in the early Taisho era (1912 CE–1926 CE) in Nomi City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Seikou Kiln has long been dedicated to the art of Japanese overglaze painting for Kutani ware. Through years of research, Seikou Kiln perfected a high-quality technique to transfer designs and patterns using printed sheets, all created in-house. This method captures the same level of transparency in glassy glazes and the depth of thick overglaze paints as traditional hand-painting. Their work has earned prestigious awards, such as the Japan Tourism Agency's Charming Japanese Souvenir Contest.
Origin
Kutani ware is a pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years. It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines. Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.

Kobachi Small Bowls
Kobachi, literally “small bowls” in Japanese, are designed for serving appetizers and side dishes. Deeper than a small plate but smaller than a main course or ramen bowl, kobachi are just the right size for light stews and simmered vegetables. Incorporating one or several kobachi bowls into a table setting and arranging dishes of different sizes and colors lends your meal an authentic Japanese atmosphere.
This category includes bowls with diameters under 12.9 cm (5.1 in).

"Kacho" Flower & Bird Motif Items
The flower and bird pattern is a very elegant motif combining plants, flowers, and birds. It is popular as a pattern for kimono and other textiles as well as for maki-e lacquerware.
These motifs combine Japanese plants, such as pine, bamboo, and plum, paired with auspicious birds such as cranes, peacocks, and Japanese nightingale.
The pretty and beautiful flower and bird patterns are impressive, and would make a great gift for someone special. You can express your good taste even more by choosing a combination of flowers and birds appropriate to the season.
