Celadon is often used in large porcelain for artistic purposes, but this is a small cup that can fit in your hand. A possession of elegant beauty in the scene of cuisine. The rim exposes the outlines of the red clay, an exquisite balance between the elegance of emerald celadon and the rustic red soil. The base is of brown color and unglazed, once held in your hand, you can enjoy both the glazed smooth surface and the clay texture of rustic brown.
The turquoise glare is achieved through the meticulous process of kneading the kiln’s house blended pigment and seed of celadon into the clay. The celadon seed illuminates into this unique heartwarming blue once cooked in the kiln.
This can be used as a small teacup, especially for green tea. The green color of tea is especially beautiful when put in such cups made of celadon blue. Otherwise, in Japanese cuisine, this cup can be used for your dipping sauce for Soba noodles. The sublime beauty of celadon blue can be appropriate for any auspicious and pleasing dining experience.

Maker / Brand
Soryu Kiln is a Kyo ware kiln highly skilled in the art of celadon porcelain, combining the techniques of Koishiwara ware of Fukuoka prefecture. It is unique in design where shades of blue of the celadon ware are emphasized by the grooves made by carving out continuous geometric patterns by a skill called "Tobikanna" (Chattering Pottery). The emerged style is a combination of the nobility of traditional celadon ware, and the tobikanna technique of folk craft.
Crafts
Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware, collectively known as Kyo-yaki or Kiyomizu-yaki, are esteemed crafts from Kyoto. Unlike other pottery styles, they integrate various techniques from across Japan, resulting in unique, handmade pieces. Each item is crafted meticulously, from shaping on the pottery wheel to intricate painting, showcasing exceptional modeling skills and delicate designs.
With a rich history intertwined with traditional Japanese culture, Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware are celebrated for their refined artistry and elegance. Known for their vibrant and detailed paintings, they were officially recognized as a traditional craft by the Japanese government in 1977. Today, these ceramics are prized for their high artistic quality, embodying both historical craftsmanship and aesthetic sophistication.
