These are authentic children's chopsticks made of natural wood and lacquer. The top part of the chopsticks is red-colored and adorned with a gleaming rabbit made out of natural abalone shell. It also has three gold rings that wrap around the top part and the lacquered wood. 

The size of the chopsticks is 18cm(7.1in), suitable for children in the upper grades of elementary school. They are comfortable to hold and easy to use, highly recommended for daily use. As the tips are square, it's easy to pick up noodles, beans, and much more! 

These chopsticks are made by Ishida, which has been making Wakasa lacquer for over 80 years. Wakasa lacquerware is a traditional craft of Obama City, Fukui Prefecture, which has been around since the early Edo period (c. 1603-1867). Decorating with shells is one of their traditional techniques.

The chopsticks can be used casually or gifted to friends or family! The wood brings warmth while the design at the top adds a touch of refinement.

ABOUT WAKASA LACQUER CHOPSTICKS

Wakasa lacquer chopsticks are traditional lacquered chopsticks from Obama City, Fukui Prefecture, with a history of about 400 years. It currently accounts for more than 80% of the national share of domestically produced lacquered chopsticks. Wakasa lacquer chopsticks was designated as a "traditional craft" on February 6, 1978 in recognition of its advanced techniques. It is characterized by their unique three-dimensional patterns created by applying layers of colored lacquer made of shells and eggshells. It was sometimes called "jewel lacquering" because of the noble shine of the patterns that represented the ocean floor.

Today, you can find a wide variety of Wakasa lacquer chopsticks, some handmade using traditional methods, some made using transfer sheets, and some made using dishwasher-safe paints. Enjoy choosing the chopsticks that best suit your lifestyle.
