Bold splashes of color marked with intricate, checkered designs cover this tumbler set, revitalizing your cocktail hour with a delightfully retro yet timeless presence. Kiyohide Glass items are all cut by hand, making each tumbler nearly identical, but truly one-of-a-kind.

A striking flared shape is emphasized by the long lines of the checkered design, with an alternating pattern of color and clear blocks adding dimension to the smooth surface inside of the cup. Oval-shaped divots are cut into the clear sections, forming a window that creates an almost kaleidoscopic visual when you look through it.

This glass-cutting technique is called Edo Kiriko, which demands years of expertise, a refined sensibility, and impeccable technique. Cutting kiriko glass involves inspecting the interior while referencing the pattern etched on the glass's exterior. Peer into these glasses from multiple angles and the dynamic pattern cut on the outside results in remarkably unique textures that will never cease to amaze you and your guests.

The Edo Kiriko technique is often seen on sake cups, and this set’s tall, flared style makes it a perfect option to instantly elevate whatever you’re imbibing — from cocktail to mocktail, beer to soda. And the solid glass base makes a soothing sound when you set it on a table, and the glass is surprisingly light in your hands, so every sip feels just right. Each set is a pair of glasses, one in a vibrant auspicious red and one in lapis lazuli, known as ruri in Japanese. The duo invite you to share your time with a loved one.

The set arrives tucked in a beautiful box made of paulownia wood, light and made to protect the tumblers when not in use. It also makes a beautiful gift.

Each Edo Kiriko glass is made by hand by the artisan Kiyohide in his workshop called Kirameki, which means “The Refined Light”. Kiyohide has honed his craft over decades of dedication, earning him the title of “Edo Kiriko Craftsperson”, an honor reserved only for those who have proved their craftsmanship of the technique.
