A fruit relief plate made by pressure molding finished with the glossy white glaze and edge hand- painted in brown.

Fruits have been used in many patterns as a symbol of immortality and prosperity of descendants since ancient times, and many patterns such as melons and grapes are transmitted in Kutani ware.

Choemon Kiln also regards fruits as a symbol of freshness, and by finishing it without painted and just glazed, it enhances the beauty and the uniqueness of the relief design. If you soak it in a sauce, you can see the three-dimensional effect of the relief.

The size is great for serving any dish such as salad, appetizers, main and side dish. It perfectly works as a dinner plate. With this fruits motif, it is especially tasteful serving plate for fruits.

ABOUT CHOEMON KILN

KEIGO KAMIDE / The 6th generation of Kutani Choemon Kiln

Keigo Kamide was born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1981 and graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2006 with a major in oil painting.

Since the same year, he has been the successor of the Choemon Kiln, and has been involved in many projects, artworks, and designing together with the artisans.

In 2013, he established a limited liability company, Kamide Shigei, and began to engage in full-scale management of the kiln.

He aims to create universal and fresh expressions based on the history of Kiln, which began in the Orient, and to pass on Kutani ware to the present with flexible ideas that are not limited by tradition or boundaries.

Works

One of his representative works is “FUEFUKI".

It is very popular in Japan because of its traditional patterns arranged in a unique way.

He has collaborated with a Spanish designer in the past, and has also produced works using Kiln as a material on his own, actively holding solo exhibitions. He continues to create with the motto, “To carry on a tradition means to be creative and inventive one generation at a time.”

About kutani ware

Kutani ware is a type of pottery produced in the Kaga region of Ishikawa Prefecture and it has a history of over 350 years.
It is characterized by the heavy brilliance of the five colors of green, yellow, red, purple, and navy blue that are applied to the bold and daring lines.
Its long history has evolved through the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of people who have sought innovation while maintaining tradition.
In the early 1700s, the Kutani kilns were closed, but about 80 years later they were opened and Kutani ware was revived.
The beauty of the various styles and methods of painting is known as "Japan Kutani" and is highly regarded around the world.
