Description

This place mat is made of Tosa Washi Paper and has a wave pattern. The wave pattern is called "Seigaiha (wave pattern)", which is a traditional Japanese pattern that reminds us of the blessings of the vast ocean. The infinitely expanding wave pattern is an auspicious one that expresses wishes for happiness that will last forever and for a peaceful life.

This washi paper has a double structure, and the washi paper with a white pattern on it is made by a technique called "Rakusui". Rakusui is a traditional technique to make a pattern on washi paper by dropping water. The technique of making a double-layered paper by applying another sheet of washi on the back of the Rakusui paper is called "Sukiawase".

This place mat is perfect for an individual serving. In addition to being used as a regular place mat, they are also great to place under items displayed on a shelf.

Washi paper does not dissolve when washed and does not tear easily even if folded many times. This place mat can also be used repeatedly by washing it lightly by hand and drying it, and if it gets wrinkled, it can be ironed. When ironing, it is recommended to iron from the reverse side to avoid damaging the texture.
