Estimated Shipping Widget will be displayed here!
This Square Bento Box is filled with the traditional techniques of Yamanaka Lacquerware. It can be used as a lunch box for one person, or to put sushi rolls or Japanese sweets to share with others, or to keep a container for seasonings, etc., and serve it at the table.
It is made with a technique of coating black and red lacquer and then polishing a part of it to show the color underneath, which gives a unique texture to the piece.
"Nunome" is a lacquering technique in which a cloth is applied to the wood and lacquer is applied on top of the cloth to bring out the pattern. This technique is stronger and more durable than ordinary lacquering.
Its timeless traditional design is suitable for long-term use, daily use or when entertaining guests.

Crafts
Yamanaka lacquerware, also known as Yamanaka Shikki, is a lacquerware produced in the Yamanaka Onsen (hot spring) district of Kaga, Ishikawa prefecture. This lacquerware is unique in that it blends the natural elegance of the wood grain with the elegant maki-e technique of sprinkling gold, silver, or other colored powder onto a lacquer painting.
With its beautiful wood texture, delicate and robust Yamanaka Lacquerware is evolving day by day, incorporating a modern sense of design while inheriting a tradition that has lasted for 400 years.
